Herndon Man Charged in Stabbing at Sterling Shopping Center

The suspect, identified as Nelson Urbina-Zelaya, 40, was taken into custody this morning in Sterling without incident. Urbina-Zelaya is charged with three counts of malicious wounding.
 
The arrest stems from an altercation and stabbing that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on March 1 in the 46900 block of Community Plaza where two adult male victims were located in the parking lot. During the course of the investigation a third male victim was identified. He received minor injuries when he attempted to intervene in the altercation. The two other victims were taken to a local hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. 
 
The circumstances surrounding what led to the assault remains under investigation.

Urbina-Zelaya is being held on no bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
