Loudoun County, VA (February 18, 2023) - The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office held its 2022 Awards and Recognition Ceremony last evening, to recognize the day-to-day efforts of members of the agency for their service and dedication to the community.
The awards and recognition program allows members of the agency to nominate their co-workers, partners in law enforcement, and citizens for efforts that often go unrecognized. The nominations are then reviewed by an awards committee. The awarded categories for this year included the Meritorious Service Award, the Meritorious Action Award, the Commendation Award, and the Master Deputy Program Achievement Award.
This year’s awards include representatives from the Department of Information Technology and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources Conservation Police.
Meritorious Service Award: Recognizes performance by a member within the scope of normal responsibilities but performed in such a manner as to deserve special recognition.
Recipients: Master Deputy Shannon Coderre, Sergeant Justin Maas, Master Deputy Rusty Shelow, Deputy First Class Mike Ramirez, and Detective Shannon Almborg
Meritorious Action Award: Recognizes an individual, or team of individuals, who have demonstrated exemplary action in response to a specific situation.
Recipients: Master Deputy Todd Wilson and Deputy First Class Brady Mullis, Detective Sean McCormack, Detective Tonmy Rodriguez, Detective Ryan Schmidt, Deputy Evelin Valladares, Sergeant Jeff Cichocki, Deputy First Class Michael Grant, Master Deputy Joe Hacay, Deputy First Class Mark Sarrichio, Deputy First Class Brady Mullis, and Master Conservation Officer Mark DiLuigi.
Sheriff’s Excellence Award: Recognizes senior civilian supervisors and senior, sworn front line supervisors for superior job knowledge, devotion to duty, and dedication to the community and the agency.
Recipients: Sergeant Wayne Promisel
Master Deputy Program Achievement Award: Recognizes deputies with the Master Deputy Program for superior job knowledge, devotion to duty specifically related to career path, dedication to those they serve, and loyalty to the Sheriff’s Office.
Recipients: Master Deputy Keith Wills and Master Deputy Chris Grandner
Commendation Award: Awarded by the Sheriff to any individual or team of individuals, for an act that materially contributes to the accomplishment of Sheriff’s office goals or for an act that warrants special recognition in the public interest.
Recipients: Deputy First Class Aaron Hill, Deputy First Class Pat Brick, Sergeant Marcus Whitfield, Deputy First Class Evelin Valladares, Deputy First Class Javon Kirkland, Deputy First Class Nelson Colon, Deputy First Class Donald Wilhelm, Lieutenant Manh Nguyen, Deputy First Class Tou Phung, Galvin Boward, John Sharon, Marcie Lu, Steve Henry, and Armad Kitrell, Deputy First Class Adam MacDonald, Detective Sean Smith, Detective Kasey Alexander, Detective Rick Garis
Those in attendance included Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman, members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Command Staff, Loudoun County Administrator, Tim Hemstreet, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair, Phyllis Randall, Broad Run District Supervisor, Sylvia Glass, Ashburn District Supervisor Member Mike Turner, and Town of Leesburg Acting Chief of Police, Vanessa Grigsby.
The Awards and Recognition program was developed in 2010 and is an annual event.
