Daycare Employee Charged with Child Abuse

Loudoun County, VA (November 18, 2022) – A daycare employee has been charged after an investigation into a report that an infant received life-threatening injuries.

On November 7, 2022, at approximately 5:00 pm., the LCSO responded to a local area hospital for a report of an infant suffering from life-threatening injuries.  Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit conducted an investigation into the incident and determined that the injuries occurred while the infant was in the care of an employee at the Winwood Children’s Center, 43200 block Hay Road in Ashburn.   

Today, Shabana Saleem, age 50, of Ashburn was arrested and charged with Child Abuse and Neglect.  Furthermore, Shabana Saleem did not render aid to the infant after the injuries.  Saleem was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where she is being held on no bond.   

The infant has since been released from the hospital.
