Matthew Christopher Bush was arrested on a felony warrant, obtained by the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO), for the burning of his 2021 Honda Civic.

On August 12, 2022, members of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System responded for an auto fire located off Samuels Mill Court near Leesburg in Loudoun County. The LCFR-FMO conducted a fire origin and cause investigation, which determined the fire was incendiary in nature. Once the comprehensive fire investigation was completed, a felony arrest warrant for Matthew Christopher Bush was obtained on September 8, 2022, related to Code of Virginia §18.2-81 for the burning or destroying of personal property valued over $1,000.00

The arrest warrant was served through cooperation with the Jefferson County (West Virginia) Sheriff’s Office on September 8, 2022, and Mr. Bush is being held without bail at the West Virginia Eastern Regional Jail pending extradition to Loudoun County.

Matthew Christopher Bush was a volunteer member with the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System’s Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company, which he joined in June 2022. Upon Mr. Bush’s arrest, he was suspended from the Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company and the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System.

All Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System members, which includes Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company members, undergo a comprehensive background check including fingerprinting, and a criminal and traffic check of their adult and juvenile records. The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System requires all members to uphold the LC-CFRS Code of Conduct and Discipline per Chapter 258 of the Codified Ordinances of Loudoun County.
