Investigators from the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office (LCFR-FMO) have made an arrest in an incendiary fire that damaged an Aldie home in May of 2022.
Just before 8:00 a.m. on Saturday May 14, 2022, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue units from Kirkpatrick Farms, Dulles South, Brambleton, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority responded for a possible structure fire in the 25,000 block of Purebred Court. The initial 911 call came from a neighbor who reported a deck on fire next to his home. Firefighters arrived on scene to find active fire on the rear deck of the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished and was contained to the deck area where it did approximately $45,000 in damages.
The LCFR-FMO conducted an origin and cause investigation and determined the fire was intentionally set, triggering a criminal investigation. Once the comprehensive fire investigation was completed, an arrest warrant was obtained for Christopher A. Hope on charges related to Code of Virginia §18.2-77 Burning or destroying dwelling house, etc.
The arrest warrant was served through cooperation with the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Hope has been released on bond from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
