LCSO Deputy Named 2021 Correctional Officer of the Year by Major County Sheriffs Of America

Turin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Loudoun County, VA (June 15, 2022) – Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman is proud to announce that Deputy First Class Gloria Turin was recognized today by the Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA) as the 2021 Correctional Officer of the Year.

The annual MCSA Correctional Officer of the Year Award is given to a corrections officer who has demonstrated service above and beyond the call of duty.

DFC Turin was recognized for her dedication and work at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Over the past year, she was involved in two high-profile cases, including recognizing a potential fraud case that led to a complex series and multi-jurisdictional money laundering scheme impacting detention facilities across the nation that is now part of a federal investigation. She also played a vital role in a conspiracy investigation where an inmate forged documents in an attempt to facilitate a release from custody. The case led to multiple arrests by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

“In just a few short years, Deputy First Class Turin has become a role model to her peers, and most importantly she is dedicated to serving her community,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.

DFC Turin is a nearly 5-year veteran of the LCSO and is assigned to the Corrections Division.

The Major County Sheriffs of America is a professional law enforcement association of the 113 largest Sheriff's offices, and their membership represents over 130 million citizens. MCSA is dedicated to preserving the highest integrity in law enforcement and the elected Office of the Sheriff.
