The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) is pleased to announce that we have joined Nextdoor!
Nextdoor is a free, private social network for neighborhoods that engages residents to build stronger, safer communities. Our partnership with Nextdoor will allow us to communicate directly with the residents we serve, providing both updates for specific neighborhoods and general updates for all registered Loudoun County users. Nextdoor members can assure that the information they’re receiving is from an official government source as only verified agencies are allowed to participate.
LC-CFRS will use Nextdoor to share important fire and rescue news, life safety and fire prevention education, and resources to keep you, your family, and your neighbors safe. Nextdoor can also be utilized to advise when we are conducting smoke alarm assessments in your area, to share upcoming public safety events such as open houses and blood drives, and provide neighborhood specific emergency information.
As a member of Nextdoor that lives in Loudoun County, you’ll automatically receive our messages, however you may opt out of notifications in your Nextdoor user preferences. Although safety agencies can distribute messages, each neighborhood on the platform remains private and its content can only be seen by other verified residents. Public safety agencies are not able to view conversations residents have with one another on their neighborhood Nextdoor sites.
“We see the tremendous value in the Nextdoor platform as both an educational tool as well as a community engagement tool,” said Fire Chief Keith Johnson. “Nextdoor will allow us to better understand the needs and concerns from our many diverse Loudoun communities, so we can provide the information and services to make them feel safe,” said Fire Chief Keith Johnson.
