A few seats are available for the Adult Mental Health First Aid Training scheduled for January 27 & 28, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at 906 Trailview Boulevard in Leesburg. The free, two-day course is offered by the Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services. Similar to a medical first aid class, Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with someone who is in crisis and connect that person with help.
The Adult Mental Health First Aid class is appropriate for anyone 18 years of age and older who wants to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health related crisis or problem. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis and more.
There are also seats available for the Youth Mental Health First Aid training January 24 & 31, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at 906 Trailview Boulevard in Leesburg. The class focuses on the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in those ages 12 to 18. The course is intended for anyone 18 years of age or older with an interest in learning how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge.
