With very cold temperatures in the forecast, Loudoun County is planning to operate a warming station Wednesday, January 30, 2019, and Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 16450 Meadowview Court in Leesburg.

Adults ages 18 and older who need shelter from the elements are encouraged to come to the facility. In addition to providing a warm place to go, a lunchtime meal will be served and community resources will be available. “We want anyone who is in need of a warm place to stay to know that they are welcome to drop by the warming station for support and assistance,” said Loudoun County Department of Family Services Director Glenda Blake.

16450 Meadowview Court is accessible by public transportation. It is one of the stops on Route 56 of the Loudoun County Local Bus Service.

As a reminder, the Loudoun County Cold Weather Shelter is also open to provide services to members of the community who are homeless. The Cold Weather Shelter is open through March 31, 2019, at the Sterling Community Center for adults in the community who are experiencing a housing crisis resulting in homelessness. The shelter, which provides a warm indoor sleeping environment, is open from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven nights a week. In addition to a place to sleep, the shelter provides case management, mental health services and other resources.

The Cold Weather Shelter is operated by Loudoun County in partnership with the Loudoun County Continuum of Care (CoC). The CoC is a coalition of public, nonprofit and faith-based organizations that provide a variety of shelter and support services to persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Staff support for the CoC is provided by the Loudoun County Department of Family Services.
