Reston Man Charged with Attempted Capital Murder of a LCSO Deputy
Loudoun County, VA – A Virginia man has been charged with attempted capital murder in relation to the shooting incident which occurred on January 17, 2019, in Paeonian Springs.
On January 17th, deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to the 39000 block of Peacock Circle in Paeonian Springs around 3:30 p.m. for a trespassing complaint. The witness stated that a male subject forced entry into a trailer on the property which contained firearms. Prior to LCSO arrival, the suspect was heard firing a weapon on the property.
The investigation indicates that the suspect fired a weapon several times, including firing rounds at two responding deputies. The deputies exchanged gunfire, wounding the suspect. The suspect subsequently barricaded himself in the trailer, but exited a short time later and surrendered without further incident.
The suspect sustained a non-life threatening injury and was immediately transported to a local hospital.
The suspect was identified as Hyeong J. Suh, 29 of Reston, VA. Suh was arrested and charged with one count of attempted capital murder and breaking & entering. He remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Per Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office policy, two deputies have been placed on routine, paid administrative leave until the investigation has concluded.
