Two Early Morning Arson Fires in Leesburg Destroy Vehicles, Fire Officials Requesting Information
Leesburg, VA. – Just after 1:30 a.m. on January 3rd, fire and rescue crews from Leesburg were dispatched to 36 Fort Evans Road NE for an auto fire. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a black Jeep Cherokee four door sport utility vehicle engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire preventing it from spreading to nearby vehicles. A subsequent investigation by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office revealed that the fire was intentionally set.
While firefighters were on the scene of the fire at 36 Fort Evans Road NE, crews were dispatched at 1:48 a.m. to a second auto fire at 28 Fort Evans Road. When firefighters arrived on scene of the second auto fire, they discovered a black BMW four door sedan also fully engulfed in fire. This fire had spread to a Dodge Ram pickup truck parked adjacent to the BMW. The Fire Marshal’s investigation revealed that the fire was also intentionally set.
Both fires were located approximately 100 yards apart in adjoining apartment complexes. All three vehicles are believed to be a total loss with damages estimated at $15,000.
