Loudoun County, VA- A Herndon man has been charged after an alcohol-related single vehicle crash that took the life of a passenger inside his vehicle.
The crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. December 1, when the driver, Julio A. Rivera, 39, lost control of a 1997 Dodge Ram and struck a parked vehicle and then struck a townhouse in the 700 block of Colonial Avenue in Sterling. The vehicle ended up on its side. A passenger inside the vehicle was taken to Reston Hospital where he later passed away.
There was minor damage to the townhouse and no one was injured inside.
Rivera has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, DUI and Driving on a Suspended License. He is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is working to confirm the identity the adult male victim.
