New Traffic Pattern, Lanes Shifting

Posted on October 24, 2023 at 7:57 AM by Shawn Zelman

On or about November 1 and 3, 2023, weather permitting, Belmont Ridge Road in northbound and southbound traffic will be switched on to new separated roadway alignments between Croson Lane and Truro Parish Drive. Lanes will continue to be a single lane in each direction, but without the temporary crossover lanes. Modifications to turn lanes and crossovers will occur for the intersections at Croson Lane, Alford Road, Cochrans Lock Drive, Reservoir Ridge Place, Mount Hope Road, Waxpool Road, and Truro Parish Drive.

Drivers should use extra caution when traveling through this area on these dates and follow all directions from the posted signs and road crews who will use brief traffic stoppages to connect new alignments and guide traffic to sections of newly opened roadway.

 About the Project

This project reconstructs and widens Belmont Ridge Road between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane from the existing two-lane rural road to a modern four-lane, median-divided, suburban roadway, with shared-use paths for pedestrians and bicyclists on each side. Project benefits include alleviating traffic in the corridor, providing active transportation solutions, and connecting commuters to major activity and employment centers.

Funding for this regionally significant project is from Loudoun County, NVTA and the state’s Revenue Sharing Program administered by VDOT-LAP. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024.
