Structural Work is Complete for Sterling Community Center Renovation

Crews have completed the installation of all concrete masonry and structural steel for the Sterling Community Center Renovation. The roof is almost complete, the mechanical equipment has been set in place, and the sitework is ongoing.

Work to rough-in for mechanical, electrical and plumbing is about 60% complete and the interior framing is about 70% complete.

In the next month, power will be switched on, work will begin on the parking lots, and crews will begin installing exterior windows and doors, and drywall. 

The project, which will add 2,000 square feet to the existing 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas and expanding the teen recreation area.

The Sterling Community Center project is expected to be completed in fall 2021. During the renovation, the center will provide services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.

Construction Continues on the Sterling Community Center Renovation

The construction contractor for the Sterling Community Center Renovation project has completed the foundation and continues site work, including curb and gutter work. The crew is approximately 80% complete with erecting the structural steel posts. The roof decking is installed on the gym area, and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work has begun inside the facility.

In the next several months, crews will start roofing the area being renovated, set the air handlers on the roof, continue with the interior mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough in, begin framing interior partitions, and install the exterior windows and door systems.  

The project, which will add 2,000 square feet to the existing 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling, includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas and expanding the teen recreation area.

Crews Prepare to Install Steel and Masonry at Sterling Community Center

In July, crews working on the Sterling Community Center renovation completed the installation of the geothermal system, reinforcement of the foundation of the existing building and underground utility work. Work on storm lines and water supply lines from Enterprise Street to the building is ongoing. 

Over the next several weeks, crews will begin to erect structural steel posts and masonry block at the gymnasium and rough-in for utilities.
