Energy Strategy Update
10-18-22: The Board of Supervisors heard a presentation from county staff about the ongoing efforts to update the county's Energy Strategy.
06-29-22: Loudoun County hosted a virtual public input session on the development of an updated energy strategy for the county on June 29, 2022. The county is in the process of updating the Loudoun County Energy Strategy adopted in 2009 and is seeking comments from members of the community in three major topic areas:
- Supporting Renewable Energy Development in Loudoun County: Facilitating greater solar and other types of renewable energy use.
- Stimulate Communitywide Actions: Ensuring energy equity and reducing emissions from the transportation, residential and commercial sectors.
- Government by Example: Includes actions the Loudoun County government can undertake with its own energy practices.

2009 Loudoun County Energy Strategy
The Loudoun County Energy Strategy (PDF), is a comprehensive, 30-year road map of energy strategies for the Loudoun County government and community, which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in December 2009.
Energy management in Loudoun County includes initiatives in facilities and with employees as well as community energy resources.
The county supports several programs to provide resources for commercial properties and residences implementing energy management projects.

Employee Energy Conservation Program
The Loudoun County Employee Energy Conservation Program provides guidance and education to reduce energy consumption and costs, improve energy efficiency and facilitate energy conservation in county facilities. This includes an energy awareness pledge campaign and the Energy Conservation Committee.
Solar Energy Generation at Loudoun County Facilities
Loudoun County has install solar arrays at several facilities including, the Youth Shelter Buildings, the Homeless Shelter building and the Harmony Park & Ride. These arrays generate power to operate both facilities and produce income from the Renewable Energy Credits.
