Project Overview
- This project will construct a new 18,000 square foot Fire and Rescue facility on 14.36 acres to replace the existing Lucketts Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station.
- Station will consist of four pull through apparatus bays, seven 2 person bunk rooms, a training room, restrooms, showers, kitchen and dining areas, supply storage, a gear and hose drying area, fitness room, offices and a repair shop.
- Facility is designed to achieve LEED Gold designation.
- Funding for land acquisition for the fire station replacement was provided in FY 2013 in the Land Acquisition Fund.
Current Status: July 2019
- Final design of the project is complete. Bids have been received and contract for construction has been awarded to Waynesboro Construction Inc.
- Notice to proceed with construction is expected to occur on July 24, 2019.
- Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2020 at a cost of $10.5 million.
