Workshops Facilitator
Duties/Expectations: Seeking a qualified instructor to facilitate an online course in job readiness skills or job keeping skills for customers of the WRC. The purpose should always be to build/develop skills for the participants to enhance their employability. The topic (s) and learning objectives will be pre-determined by the Training Coordinator and the Facilitator. Currently, all workshops are being conducted using the County’s designated and supported video/web conference platform.
The Facilitator would be expected to create an informational workshop pertaining to the current workforce and needs of the unemployed or underemployed. Courses typically are 1 to 2 hours in duration and can take place on weekday hours, an evening, or a Saturday. Additionally, the Facilitator will develop activities for the workshop and handouts that can be emailed to participants with the meeting link 1 day prior to the workshop.
Qualifications and Requirements: Facilitator must have 12 months or more of presentation skills and experience with adult learners within a certain relevant subject matter. Instructional design experience is preferred. Attention to detail and reliability are a must. Should be comfortable with online platforms and have knowledge of their features; be able to troubleshoot online when necessary. Facilitator must utilize a desktop or laptop device to deliver the workshop that also is connected to high-speed internet. Instruction needs to occur within a distraction free environment and with a professional or neutral backdrop. Reliability, timeliness, great interpersonal skills, patience, and a sense of humor are always key.
Time Commitment: Minimum workshop offering of once per month for 3 months. During this initial 3-month trial period, the Training Coordinator will offer ongoing feedback to include customer evaluation/survey comments.
Training/Support: The Training Coordinator will assist you with setting measurable learning goals, coordinating dates and times, building a workshop description, and managing the workshop registration and confirmation with participants. The online platform links and workshop materials and handouts will be distributed by the Training Coordinator. Training Coordinator will conduct a practice session with the Facilitator who will receive direct support during this practice session as well as the first live session.
Benefits: While volunteers receive no pay, other benefits include the satisfaction of making a difference in the lives of others and their career goals. Plus, the experience can be a ‘resume-booster’ for the volunteer.
