LCSO Kicks Off 2018 Holiday Toy Drive Campaign

Loudoun County, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your assistance to help make this holiday season bright for children in Loudoun by donating to LCSO’s Holiday Toy Drive and Fill-The-Box Campaign!

The Sheriff’s Office has partnered with two non-profit organizations, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #69 and Cole’s Closet, to help donate toys to fill “closets” with toys for children while they are at the hospital and to help less fortunate kids that during the holidays.

Cole’s Closet was created in 2002 by Ellen and Steve Tomczyk after they lost their six-month-old son to an undiagnosed brain disease. The Tomczyks spent four months in and out of area hospitals where they experienced first-hand the anxiety and fear families face when a child is hospitalized. Ellen and Steve began a toy drive at a family holiday party one year after Cole passed away and since then they have donated over 16,000 new toys to area hospitals. For more information about Cole’s Closet please visit www.colescloset.org.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #69 hosts an Annual Cops and Kids shopping program in conjunction with Target in Sterling; however, this year the organization is also collecting toys from the community to go towards providing underprivileged children with a few presents. The FOP was founded in 1915 and it is committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation. For more information about the FOP please visit https://www.vafop.com/.
