Maryland Man Charged in Defrauding Residents at Long-Term Care Center

Loudoun County, VA- A former employee of a long-term care center in Sterling, VA, has been charged with fraudulently obtaining money from two residents at the facility.

Alvoid W. Washington, 35, of Laurel, MD, was a social services director at Potomac Falls Health and Rehab Center and has been charged with three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, two counts of financial exploitation of incapacitated persons and forgery. 

Washington used checks and check cards to obtain over $140,000 from the two victims. Both victims are now deceased. In one case, Washington fraudulently obtained power of attorney from the victim. 

The thefts occurred between November 2017 and April 2018. The initial case was reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Unit in March 2018. During the course of the investigation, a second victim was discovered. 
Washington was charged in August 2018 and additional warrants were served on him on October 1, 2018, in connection with the second victim.

Washington was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
