Loudoun County, VA – A Loudoun Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducting a business check this morning interrupted an attempted robbery at a Sterling convenience store.

The suspect entered the 7-Eleven in the 46100 block of Woodshire Drive shortly before 3:30 a.m., brandished a firearm and demanded cash. As the suspect was attempting to take money from the store, he saw the deputy arrive in his patrol car at the store.

The suspect fled the store and the deputy gave chase on foot. The suspect ran and got into a waiting vehicle near Gentry Drive where the driver sped away. Deputies canvassed the area but the suspect vehicle was not located.

The suspects fled in a light-colored four door sedan. The suspect was described as a black male, with a thin build. He was wearing a grey ski mask, a black sweatshirt with a Nike Air Jordan logo and black pants and shoes.

The deputy was one of several deputies conducting business checks and directed patrols at local convenience stores after two similar robberies were reported overnight in the Town of Leesburg. Detectives with the LCSO are working with detectives with the Leesburg Police Department in the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective M. Grimsley of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-1021.
